Want to know what the motorbike accident claim timeline is so you can have a better idea of what to expect when you make a claim?

We can help.

We specialist in motorbike accident claims so we can give you some easy guidance on what you may experience in terms of a motorbike accident claim timeline. Although each case is different and is subject to its own unique goings on, here’s a general idea on what you could expect to happen.

Motorbike accident claim timeline: Stage One

Stage One of the motorbike accident claim timeline is gathering all the information we need from you to start the claim. We need information to complete a Claim Notification Form which is an electronic form we submit to the insurer of the party at fault, and this is a mandatory step in most types of motorbike accident claims.

Once this has been completed, we submit the form to the insurer and they then have 15-business days to respond with their admission of liability

Motorbike accident claim timeline: Stage Two

Stage Two of the motorbike accident claim timeline applies where the Defendant has admitted liability for the accident within the 15-business day timeframe. Next step is the medical report.

We will organise for an appointment with a suitable independent medical expert who will then produce a report to us that can be used as the primary evidence to support your claim for motorbike accident compensation.

We normally expect an appointment to be scheduled within a few months of the agency being appointed, and it takes usually around eight weeks for the report to be completed.

Motorbike accident claim timeline: Stage Three

Ok, so now we’re at Stage Three of a potential motorbike accident claim timeline that you may come to expect.

This is where we submit the medical evidence and any evidence of your losses (like lost earnings from time off work). Once this is all submitted to the opponent, a negotiation period will take place between our side and the other side until we (hopefully) reach a compromise, and you can settle the case.

When the standard motorbike accident claim timeline doesn’t apply

Typically speaking, the motorbike accident claim timeline won’t apply in the following circumstances:

  • Where the claim is contested / the Defendant denies liability;
  • Where the Defendant misses the deadlines imposed above (the claim can then be subject to longer timeframes based on the previous way of working, but they are usually punished by having to pay increased fees);
  • Serious injury cases or complex injury cases.
