At The Scene

If you are able to:

• If anyone is injured or any immediate disputes ensue, dial 999 and ask for the police and paramedics if necessary.
• Exchange full details with the other parties involved.
• Take photos showing the position of vehicles and any skid marks or debris on the road.
• Take details of witnesses who may be able to verify your version of events.
• Look around for CCTV cameras in the nearby area. Note their positions as they may have recorded the accident on camera.

After The Accident

• If you couldn't get any or all of the above done at the scene, go back and do it or get a friend to help.
• Seek medical attention immediately.
• Prepare a sketch plan of what has happened, including directions of travel.
• Write down your version of events so it's fresh in your mind and well documented.
